PLEGASSOUS

Plegassous is just 3 km from the famous village of La Romieu, which is in the Gers department and forms part of the historic area of Gascony. La Romieu is situated at a junction of the route of St. Jacques de Compestella. Rich in history, the Ancient Monuments of the Collegiate Church and its cloister have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1901.

The village has a Restaurant, Boulangerie, Tabac, an Epicerie, a Post Office and a Hairdresser’s.

Condom is just11 kms from La Romieu, which has large supermarkets, bars, restaurants and a magnificent cathedral. Toulouse is an hour and a half away and together with Bordeaux are the nearest airports to the house. Bergerac and Pau airports are just 2 hours away.

The gite is part of a magnificent 200-year-old stone farmhouse situated in 1.75 hectares of land, surrounded by sunflowers a rolling countryside.

In the last two years the house has undergone a complete renovation programme and 2008 will be the first ‘letting year’. Retaining many of the original stone walls and beams the house has been beautifully and sympathetically restored to a very high standard.

Approached by a sweeping driveway the gite is easily accessed from the parking area. It has sits own terrace –wonderful for breakfasting in the early morning sunshine.

Downstairs includes a fully fitted open plan kitchen/dining room, and includes an electric oven, gas hob, washing machine, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, coffee maker and microwave.

The very attractive lounge is approached by two steps down from the dining area. Sympathetically furnished - facilities include TV with Satellite English channels, DVD player, CD player.

Double French doors lead to its own private terrace that faces the 12 metres by 6-metre swimming pool and pool house.  There is also a poolside BBQ.

A staircase from the lounge leads to two double bedrooms on the first floor, one with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with bath. The second bedroom has twin beds with an en-suite shower room. Both bedrooms have CD player and hairdryer. All bedding and towels are provided.

In addition an adjoining third twin or double bedroom with en-suite shower room is available upon request. This bedroom is located on the ground floor.

There are great views of the countryside from all around the house. We recommend this magnificent holiday home as a very different alternative to our cottages in the Lot Valley!!

The husband and wife team who own and manage the house, live away in a secluded part of this very large country house and occasionally share the pool.
