Once a farm house with a few small surrounding outhouses, this beautiful newly renovated stone cottage sits amongst mature trees on a hill top overlooking the valleys and hills of this truly scenic area. The French owners once farmed here full time, but now there remain just a few chickens running around the outer parts of the garden and driveway.
Situated in lovely lawned gardens and complemented by its own swimming pool and sunny terraces, the house is a delight for those seeking seclusion and comfort in a setting of peace and abundant wildlife.
The cottage sleeps 5 people in three bedrooms, and alternatively is available for two people in one bedroom.
With its own driveway leading to the house and with ample parking, the front door opens into a very pleasant large living and dining area with a sofa by a large inglenook fireplace. To the side is a well equipped kitchen area and beyond the dining table is a very cosy sitting room.
The wooden staircase leads off the living room and on to the upper floor where there are two bedrooms, one with a large single bed and the other with a double bed. Adjacent is a bathroom with a shower and WC.
On the lower ground floor there is another double room with WC and French windows leading out onto the swimming pool terrace and lawned gardens beyond. A safe and protected garden makes an ideal area for children. To one side of the garden there are swings to play on.
The cottage is located just 10 minutes from Conques, which dates back to the 9th century and is magnificently preserved. Classified among the most beautiful villages in France and is a UNESCO “World Heritage Site”. Conques is also a major staging post on the spiritual path to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle.
Grand Vabre is just below and five minutes drive away. There is a small supermarket, two restaurants and a bar plus a garage with fuel. Beyond Conques is Marcillac, a delightful town with banks, supermarkets and post office. Every Sunday morning it stages a wonderfully colourful market.
Without a doubt this is a most desirable holiday cottage.
