Rooftop Terrace - FRENCH COTTAGE
In the middle of the village of Entraygues is a beautifully restored apartment for up to six guests. The careful renovation was completed in June 2010 by an English couple who are friends of ours and who live in the area and own a soft furnishing shop and delightful cafe in the middle of the village.
For those wishing to envelope themselves in a beautiful rural southern France village and at the confluence of two beautiful Aveyron rivers then look no further.
The town has preserved its medieval streets and XV and XVII century houses many are half-timbered and cantilevered. The riverside castle was built by Henry 2, Earl of Rodez between 1278 and 1290. Upon completion of construction of the fortified castle in 1290, the city walls with battlements, towers and gateways were all surrounded by a ditch.
Entraygues was a strategic point at the crossroads of routes, at the crossroads of Auvergne and the Lot Valley. The Gothic bridge over the Truyere is an historical monument, and was built by priests, not monks, It included a toll tower at each end and until the early 20th century, traders and hawkers were standing in shelters to offer to passersby their wares. The second bridge –the Pont Notre Dame was built in the late 13th century.
The entrance to the apartment is by a door adjacent to the Le Petit Pois in the main street. The stairs lead up to a landing and to the right is the kitchen, well equipped with dining table and chairs and comfortable seating.
From the kitchen, a door opens out to a very pretty sun terrace. There are table and chairs here for alfresco dining and relaxing in the sunshine.
Opposite the kitchen the landing leads into two comfortable double bedrooms. On the next level up is a large landing with another double bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower and WC.
There is a comfortable living room on the very top floor.
This extremely comfortable apartment is available for periods of less than a week and those who wish to travel midweek on cheaper flights this is an excellent place to stay for a few days until another of our properties become free on the following Saturday.
